I) Vocabulary (10 Minutes / 5 %)                                         

            A) (5%) accurate spelling                                                                                     

            B) (5%) using a word in context (writing sentences), 1 from each list

II) Grammar/Editing/Writing (20 minutes / 15%)

       (10% / 10 Minutes) Comma rules (# 13), Fragments and Run-ons (rule # 1A & 1B), common misspelling, especially homonym mistakes (to, too, two), subject-verb and pronoun-antecedent agreement, apostrophe and important comma usage, and the chapters we've covered in the Little, Brown Handbook

III) MATCHING (20% / 25 Minutes) Literature

(short stories, The Miracle Worker, The Secret Life of Bees, Romeo and Juliet

       A) (10%) You should know authors' names (short stories)

            B) (10%) Major characters

IV) Multiple Choice (20%/25 Minutes) Literature

(short stories, The Miracle Worker, The Secret Life of Bees, Romeo and Juliet

Review literary terms involving plot, character, setting, theme, and point of view        

V) and VI) Two Essays, (20%/25 Minutes) Literature

Make sure you understand the directions totally. You need to write two complete essays. In each essay, you must use two significant examples from the reading, one from each of the four units (short stories, The Miracle Worker, The Secret Life of Bees, Romeo and Juliet. Do not repeat anything, and make sure you have all four groups covered. The only exception would be to use R & J or Secret Life of Bees a second time, instead of a non-fiction choice, since we didn't spend as much time on that unit.
